Some of South Florida’s leading angel investors have established a monthly tradition of hosting startup company pitch sessions at home.
In the living room of venture capitalist Steve Repetti, anxious entrepreneurs pitch their concepts from the sofa. Sometime around noon, pizza is delivered. The family shih tzu is always underfoot.
Listening intently are other investors including Franc Nemanic, who sold his web-hosting company Hostopia in 2008 for $124 million, and Orin Levy, a urologist who has invested in several successful tech companies.
Repetti uses the term “Godfather session” to describe the meetings because experts give entrepreneurs advice.
“We’re looking for great deals, great talent or just to be entertained for a few hours,” he joked.
